Questions about this piece
How do you keep a car air freshener from being too strong?
Keep it away from the vents and give it the first few days with a window cracked. Air blowing straight over a freshener pushes the scent out far faster than it would go on its own, which is why a closed car in the first week is usually the part people find overwhelming. If it is still too much, put it in a sealed bag overnight and bring it back out the next day. This one is small enough to tuck low in a door pocket or under a seat, where the scent works its way up gradually instead of meeting you at the door.
Does a car air freshener lose its scent faster in a hot car?
Yes, and by a wide margin. A parked car gets considerably hotter inside than the air outside it, and heat drives fragrance off quickly, so one sitting on the dashboard in full sun burns through in a fraction of the time one kept low and shaded would. Park in shade where you can and keep it off the dash and away from the windshield. If you are leaving the car for a week or two, seal it in a bag in the glove box and it will still be there when you get back.
How big is one of these, and how many scents are there?
It is 1.1 inches square and 1.8 inches tall and weighs 2 oz, so it closes inside your hand. That size is the useful part: it sits in a cupholder, a door pocket or the glove box without taking a spot you wanted for something else, and it is light enough to move around the car until you land on a strength you like. Twelve scents are in the lineup, from the dessert and fruit end with Cereal Milk and Brazilian Sun to the cooler ones like Icy Veins and Surfs Up.
