Do you have to wait for Mother's Day to give your mom a card?

No, and a card that turns up for no reason often lands better than one she was expecting. A Mother's Day card gets opened alongside a phone call and flowers; a card in the middle of March gets read twice and stays on the counter. This one works either way, on the holiday or just because.

What kind of pen should you use on cotton paper?

A ballpoint or a gel pen is the safe choice. Cotton paper is soft and absorbent, so a wet fountain pen or a thick marker can feather at the edges of your letters or ghost through to the back of the panel. If you want to use fountain ink anyway, test it on the inside of the envelope flap first. Give gel ink a few seconds before you close the card so it does not print onto the facing page.

How is this card made?

It is letterpress printed on a vintage Windmill press in Raleigh, North Carolina, on 100% cotton paper. The Windmill is a small platen press, which means the type is pressed down into the sheet rather than laid flat on top of it, so you can run a thumb across the front and feel the letters. It is A2, 4.25 by 5.5 inches, blank inside, and comes with a kraft envelope and a cello sleeve.

Who makes this item?

Hallelu's private label is a collaboration with designers across the USA, and most of our clothing comes out of Los Angeles. Do you carry petite or plus sizes?

Why isn't my discount code working?
