Questions about this piece
When should you put body butter on?
Within a few minutes of getting out of the shower, while your skin is still damp. A butter works partly by sealing in water that is already sitting on your skin, so putting it on skin that has fully dried means there is less there to hold onto and you get less out of the jar. Pat yourself down rather than rubbing dry, then work it in. Getting that order right does more than using a heavier hand.
What is the difference between body butter and body lotion?
How much water is in it. Lotion is mostly water with oils mixed through, so it is thin, spreads easily and sinks in quickly. A butter holds far less water and more oil, which makes it thicker and longer-lasting on the skin, and it is the one to reach for on hands, elbows, heels and anywhere that stays dry. Whipped butters split the difference, since the air worked into them makes a heavy formula feel lighter going on.
How big is the jar, and what is the seaweed in it?
It is a 6.7 ounce jar, sized for using head to toe every day rather than saving for your hands. That size matters more in a jar than a pump: you scoop it, so you can take as much as a pair of legs actually needs in one go instead of working through six pumps. The seaweed is Undaria, harvested off the coast of Patagonia, and the formula is vegan. If you want the same thing in the shower, we carry the Undaria Algae Body Wash.
