Questions about this piece
What is the difference between corduroy and flannel?
Corduroy is a weave, flannel is a finish. Corduroy is built with raised cords running down the length of the cloth, which gives it visible ridges and some body of its own. Flannel is an ordinary plain or twill cloth brushed on the surface until the nap goes soft and fuzzy. So corduroy holds a shape and flannel drapes and feels warm against you. This shacket is both, one on each face, so the structured cloth and the soft one come in a single layer.
How should a shacket fit?
Loose enough to close over whatever you plan to wear under it. A shacket is a shirt cut to work as a layer, so the test is not how it looks on bare arms but whether the buttons still meet over a sweater and whether your elbow bends freely in the sleeve. Try it with a layer on, and do not worry about the waist, since a shacket is not meant to be fitted there. This one is drawn oversized with dropped shoulders, so that room is built in. It runs S through XL.
Which side do you wear out on a reversible shacket?
Either one, and that is what you are paying for. One face is ribbed corduroy, the other is buffalo plaid flannel, and each colorway pairs its own two: brown, cream or blue stone. Turn the corduroy out over a tee and jeans when you want the quiet version, turn the plaid out when you want the pattern carrying the outfit. It buttons up the front and ends in a curved shirttail hem, so it hangs right untucked whichever face is showing. Sizes S through XL.
