Questions about this piece
What is a fold-over waistband?
It's a deep band of fabric at the top of the pants that you can wear up or turn down, with no zipper or button in it. Turned down it lowers the rise and lies flatter under a tucked-in top; left up it covers more and holds the pants higher on the waist. Because it pulls on, there is no hardware to dig in when you sit down. The pants in this set have one, which is how a leg this relaxed still stays where you put it.
Are matching sets worth packing for a trip?
They earn their space. A set is one decision instead of two, and it travels as a finished outfit, so you are not building something around it in a hotel room at seven in the morning. Knit is the other half of the argument: it folds small and comes out of a bag without a crease down the front, which woven pants rarely do. Both halves of this one are knit, and the pants are a relaxed wide leg, so there is nothing in them to press.
Is the whole set relaxed, or just the pants?
Just the pants. The tank is cut fitted, with a square neck and wide shoulder straps, while the pants are a relaxed wide leg, so the proportion is built in: close on top, full below. The room is in the cut of the leg rather than in the size you take, which is worth knowing if you tend to go up a size in pants for comfort. It comes in Small, Medium and Large, in a brown and cream stripe.
