Questions about this piece
What makes a stretch bracelet snap?
The cord inside, almost always, and usually from being pulled wider than it needs to go. Roll a stretch bracelet on over your hand instead of stretching it open with both thumbs, which frays the elastic from the inside where you cannot see it. Lotion, sunscreen and perfume soak into that cord and break it down faster than wearing it does, so put those on first and let them dry. There is no clasp on this one, so the cord is the whole fastening.
How many bracelets should you stack?
Three or four is where most stacks settle, and they look better when they are not all the same weight. A couple of slim strands beside one wider piece gives the eye somewhere to rest, where five matching bands just read as one thick band. Leave them room to slide, too; a stack packed tight against the wrist bone stops being comfortable by the afternoon. A fine gold strand like this one is a piece that fills in a stack rather than leading it.
How big is this bracelet?
Six inches around, with enough stretch to reach about seven. Six is the number to hold against your wrist, because that is where it settles once it is on; the extra inch is there to get it over your hand, not to size it up. The metal is 18K gold filled in gold, and this is the 1mm, the finest of the thicknesses it is made in, so it sits low enough for a watch or a wider bracelet to pass over it.
