Questions about this piece
Do cotton sweaters pill?
Cotton pills less than acrylic or a wool blend, but it does pill. It happens where fabric rubs the same spot over and over, so the underarm and the patch under a shoulder bag go first. Short fibers work loose, tangle, and ball up on the surface. A sweater comb or a fabric shaver takes them off and the knit looks new again. The vest half of this one is cotton knit, and because it is the layer on the outside, it is the part that will see that rubbing.
What do you wear with a sweater vest?
The bottom half decides what it reads as. A sweater vest leans preppy on its own, so pants and loafers take it toward workwear, a mini skirt leans into the school-uniform version, and straight or barrel jeans pull it back to something you would wear on a Saturday. Whichever way you go, keep the bottom simple: the vest already has texture and a neckline doing work, and a busy print under it turns into noise. This one is two layers in one, so the bottom is the only decision left.
Is the white tee attached, or is it two pieces?
Attached. The white jersey tee is sewn in under the olive knit vest, so it goes on in one motion. The layers never shift apart on you, there is no hem to re-tuck through the day, and the white at the neckline stays exactly where it was cut to sit. The trade is that you cannot swap the tee for a different one. The tee's shoulders run long past the vest's armholes, which is what creates the cap sleeve, and the V-neck, armholes and hem are all ribbed to hold their shape.
