Questions about this piece
Is viscose the same as rayon?
Yes, they are two names for the same fiber. Viscose is made from wood pulp that is dissolved and spun back into thread, which is why it drapes closer to silk than to cotton and feels cool going on. It is also the fiber that loses strength when it is soaking wet, so it is usually blended rather than used alone. This knit is 40% viscose for that drape and 60% polyester to hold the shape through a long evening.
Can you wear a bodycon dress as a wedding guest?
Usually yes, as long as the length and the color read dressy rather than late night. A floor-length bodycon in a muted shade sits comfortably at most receptions, while a short bright one is the version that draws comment. Stay away from white, ivory and anything near them. This dress is taupe with a dark brown striped scarf tie and runs to maxi length, so it clears both of those without any effort from you.
Does this dress have a slit?
Yes, one at the side. On a bodycon maxi that is a working detail rather than a decorative one, because the skirt is cut close the whole way to the ankle and the slit is what gives you a full stride and a curb without gathering the hem in your hand. The rest of it is sleeveless over one shoulder in a taupe stretch knit, with a dark brown striped scarf that ties at the waist. S, M and L.
