Questions about this piece
Are unlined cotton pants see-through?
That depends on the weave and the color far more than on the lining. A dense woven cotton in a mid or dark tone reads solid with nothing behind it, while a loose weave or a pale shade will show a seam or a waistband underneath. The test takes ten seconds: hold the fabric up to a window and look through it. These are a woven cotton and unlined, so one layer is all there is between you and daylight.
Can you wear wide-leg pants to the office?
The fabric and the waistband decide that more than the leg does. A crisp woven with a flat front and a real closure reads as pants and goes where pants go; a soft knit or a drawstring waist reads as off-duty no matter how wide the leg is cut. These are a woven cotton with an elastic tie waist, which puts them on the relaxed side of that line, better suited to a casual office or a day off than to a board meeting.
How do these run, and what is the waist like?
They run large, and they come in S, M and L. The waist is elastic with a tie, so the size you pick mostly settles the hip and the leg while the tie takes up whatever is left at the waist. That is why running large costs you less here than it would on a fixed waistband with a button at the front. There are side pockets as well, which is not a given on a pull-on pant, so keys and a phone have somewhere to go.
