Questions about this piece
What is a thinline Bible?
A thinline is a full Bible made slim. Publishers get there with thinner paper and a tighter page design, so the whole text fits in a book without the heft of a study Bible. What usually pays for that is type size, because slimming a Bible down normally means setting the words smaller. This one is a thinline in large print, which is the harder pairing to pull off, so you get the slim block without the small type.
Is the King James Version hard to read?
It takes some getting used to, and not much more than that. The KJV came out in 1611, so you will meet thee and thou, verbs ending in -eth, and a handful of words that have shifted meaning in four hundred years. Most people settle into the rhythm within a few chapters, especially in passages they already half know. Large print helps here more than you would expect, since older sentence structure is easier to follow when you are not also squinting at it.
What does the thumb index do, and what is the cover?
The thumb index is the row of half-moon notches cut into the outside page edges, each one labeled with a book name. You drop your thumb onto Psalms or John and open straight to it, which is what you want when someone calls out a verse in a study group and you would rather be there before they finish reading it. The cover is pink floral faux leather, and the text inside is the King James Version.
