Questions about this piece
Is satin the same thing as silk?
No, and the two words answer different questions. Silk is a fiber, spun by a silkworm. Satin is a weave, a way of running the threads so most of each one lies long and flat on the face of the cloth, which is what produces the shine. You can weave satin out of silk, polyester, cotton or rayon, so calling something satin tells you how it looks and feels, not what it is made of. The fiber underneath decides the price and how it washes. This one is satin woven from polyester, shell and lining both.
What necklace do you wear with a halter neckline?
Usually none. A halter already occupies the stretch of skin a necklace would hang on, and a chain laid over it has nowhere to sit that is not on top of the neckline itself. Put the jewelry where there is room instead, in earrings, a cuff or a ring. If you do want something at the throat, a short fine chain riding above the halter band is the one version that works. This halter is gathered and finished with ring hardware, so there is already metal at the neck doing that work.
How tall is the model, and how long does this dress run?
Our model is 5 feet 9 inches and wears the Small, and it falls to the floor on her. That is the figure to measure yourself against, because a maxi drafted to the floor on someone 5 foot 9 will pool at the hem on someone shorter unless there is a heel under it. The side slit is what makes the length walkable either way, letting your front leg come through instead of pushing a column of satin ahead of you up a flight of stairs.
