Questions about this piece
What does tiered mean on a dress?
A tiered dress is built from horizontal panels, each one gathered onto the panel above it rather than cut from a single piece of fabric. Every seam adds fullness, so the skirt widens as it falls and swings when you walk instead of hanging straight. The seams also show as lines across the skirt, which is what gives a tiered dress its movement even standing still. On this one the tiers cascade and the hem is asymmetrical, so those lines land at different heights rather than running level around you.
What bra do you wear with thin straps?
A strapless or a convertible one, in most cases. Thin straps sit close to the edge of the shoulder, so a standard bra strap has nowhere to hide and ends up sitting alongside the dress strap. A convertible bra solves it by crossing the straps in back, and a strapless removes the question. This dress has adjustable straps, which gives you a third option: shorten them until they sit directly over a bra strap and the two read as one line.
How long will this dress be on me?
The models in the photos are 5'9", so the hem sits lower on you than it looks there if you are shorter than that. The asymmetrical cut makes it harder to eyeball, because there is no single hemline to picture: it drops at one point and rises at another, and the long point is what moves most as height changes. The straps adjust, which gives you an inch or two of real control over where the whole dress sits. It comes in S, M and L.
