Questions about this piece
What is a huggie earring?
A very small hoop sized to sit tight against the earlobe rather than hang from it, which is where the name comes from. In practice that means it does not swing, does not catch in a sweater collar and barely shows from behind, so it is the style people pick when they want earrings they can stop thinking about. It is also the one that works in a second or third piercing, where a hanging hoop in the first hole would tangle with whatever sits above it. These are the plain everyday version, a gold band with nothing set into it.
Can you sleep in your earrings?
Small, close-fitting styles are the ones people get away with, and anything that hangs is asking to be caught. The trouble is mechanical rather than medical: a post pressing into the lobe against a pillow all night, a friction back working loose in the sheets, a thin hoop bent out of round by morning. So if you are going to leave a pair in, they want to sit flat enough that you cannot feel them when you turn your head. At 14mm these sit inside the curve of the lobe instead of dropping below it, which is the shape that has nothing standing proud of your ear to snag on a pillowcase.
Is there anything in the shop made to go with these?
Two pieces from the same maker, Bella Rey: the Teddi Dainty Chain Link Stud Earrings and the Beckett Disc Necklace. The studs are the one to add if you have a second piercing, because these huggies close tight to the lobe and leave the space above them clear, where a hanging hoop in the first hole would crowd whatever you put in the second. The Beckett disc handles the other half, one small gold shape at the ear and one at the collarbone, neither competing with the other. All three are 18k gold plated, so the tone matches across them.
