Questions about this piece
Is rayon good for a beach cover-up?
It suits the job well. Rayon is a plant-based fiber that drapes closer to silk than cotton does, so it falls around you and holds a knot instead of standing away stiffly, and it breathes and dries quickly once you are out of the water. The one thing to know is that rayon is weaker wet than it is dry, so press the water out rather than wringing it. This pareo is 100% soft spun rayon, which is why it packs down small and still opens out to a full wrap.
How do you tie a sarong so it stays put?
Give the knot something to hold. Gather a few inches of fabric into the tie instead of knotting the flat edge, because a flat knot slides loose and a gathered one grips. Bring both corners to one hip rather than to the center front, and tie it twice. For a longer wrap, roll the top edge over on itself once before you tie, then tuck the tail down inside that roll. A rectangle this size leaves you plenty of corner to work with after it has gone around.
How big is this pareo?
It is 67 by 43 inches. The 43 inches is the measurement that decides what you can wear it as: that is enough to wrap from underarm to below the knee as a dress, or to fold it in half lengthwise and still get a knee-length skirt out of it. The 67 inches is what goes around, which leaves most people overlap to spare rather than meeting edge to edge, and overlap is what keeps a wrap shut when you sit down. It comes in one size, in 100% rayon.
