Are cotton tote bags strong enough for groceries?
Cotton holds a surprising amount of weight for how light it is, and what decides whether a tote survives a full grocery run is the stitching at the handles rather than the cloth itself. Look for handles sewn down into the body with a reinforced box of stitching instead of tacked to the top edge, since that is the seam that gives out first. Woven cotton also has almost no stretch, so a heavy load sits low and stays put instead of sagging into a long pouch the way a knit bag does.
What is the difference between a tote and a beach bag?
Mostly the floor and the opening. A beach bag is built to be emptied and shaken out, so it tends to have an open top, a flat base that stands up in sand, and a fabric you do not mind getting wet. A tote is the wider category: same shape, but often with a lining, a pocket or a closure, and made for carrying rather than for sand. Which prints can I get, and are they all the same size?
Two right now: Ivory/Gray and Green Multi. The prints run assorted, so the pattern is the only thing that changes between them. The bag itself is the same 100% cotton weave and the same spacious cut in every colorway. That matters if you are buying one as a gift and one for yourself, because you can choose on color alone and know both will swallow a towel, a paperback and a water bottle without either going shapeless at the sides.
